I do periodic talks on the book, Lessons Learned: Management and Leadership for a Technical World.
I also build and published iOS applications. The initial two efforts are logic games that my partner in creating the game, John Lester, indicates is very popular in a card form. More details are available under the iOS menu item.
The book is still generating revenue even after being available almost ten years at Kobo Books, the iBookStore and Amazon. Thank you for your continuing interest:
“A must read for technical managers!” Will Wilbrink, Principal Architect, Pitney Bowes Business Insight
“The book’s lessons are relevant, accesible and thought-provoking. The organizational format works well to enable readers to see both the trees (the particulars of specific challenges at different career stages) and the forest general principles that are widely applicable).” Dr. David Leyton-Brown, Professor of Political Science and Master of Calumet College, York Uniersity, Toronto
…This is not a book on development techniques or processes. It is more like sitting down with George over a pint, listening to fables and the morals each story conveys. I read the book in two days and had trouble putting it down. Rich Helms, President/Enabl-u Canada Inc.

Wow, March Already! I had a busy week in Tucson. About 30 people from the Tucson Project Management Group listening to a technical leadership talk; around that many in the U. of Arizona GIS graduate program hearing about future trends and I have been invited back to do a course; over 70 MIS graduate students from the Eller Business school in Tucson for a lecture on management and leadership for technical teams; and finally a full day workshop based my book. (oh and a game of golf squeezed in).
Double Oh and started a new company with Barbara Carroll of GeoGRAFX with the first project a Not Your Ordinary Web Map which we will be demonstrating in the Pitney Bowes / Encom booth at PDAC. Interesting times. (http://www.geomoonllc.com/)
In addition to excellent reviews from the recent lessons learned workshop on management and leadership, Jim Harris wrote a kind book review. Thank you Jim.
A must read for anyone in the technology industry!!
by J. Martin Harris
Having worked exclusively in the technology industry since cell phones weighed 15 pounds, I can say, without a doubt, that George Moon has more insights into what it takes to be a good manager, but more importantly, a great leader. I had the great fortune to sit in on one of his seminars. I would highly recommend this book AND his seminar to ANYONE wanting to be successful in this competitive technological arena that is growing exponentially each year. This book and his seminar are the keys to becoming a great leader, for, as he quotes Gen. Colin Powell, “Great leaders are made…not born.”
